Trained in classical dance and as a performer worked as a dancer and aerialist/trapeze artist for 20 years.

His own work includes In Search of Youkali, a collection of Kurt Weill songs.
Directed Rigoletto and Cosi Fan Tutte for the Vienna Opera Academy and was revival director for Phyllida Lloyd’s Peter Grimes at Opera North.
