In Search of Youkali
In the summer of 2019 I was lucky enough to collaborate with Katie Bray, winner of the audience prize at BBC's Cardiff singer of the World 2019 and Corin Buckeridge, west end Musical Director and arranger. We workshopped our idea at the Redfest festival in France.
This show marked a big moment in my career as it was the first time I was able to direct, choreograph and perform in a fusion of dance, aerial and song.
Our concept was to take the songs of Kurt Weill and weave them into a narrative.
'We are all searching for a place where we can truly exist. Our Youkali. Through the words and music of Kurt Weill we bring you the story of a woman’s search for love, the euphoric rise of its discovery and crushing fall of it’s betrayal.'
